Fill the blank: Birthdays

Continuing to play along...

1.  Birthdays are usually full of fun where you get to fuss over the people who mean most to you. My birthday is at the end of report writing season. I'm so glad that I don't have to write reports on my birthday!

2.  My favorite birthday memory was  the first year that Tobes and I were together.  He brought me a bunch of lovely red roses and a very special necklace.  We then had dinner at my mum and dad's house with my brother, sister-in-law and nephew. Fun!

3.  A birthday tradition I (or my family) has is you usually get to choose what to have for dinner.

4.  If I had to choose one birthday meal to eat for the rest of my birthdays hence forward, I would choose  thai calamari salad from a local restaurant.  I don't grow tired of it.

5.  My birthday is on the end of reports and the lead up to Christmas. It reminds me that Summer is coming.

6.  If I could take a birthday trip I would go to Paris. I'd love to be there taking gorgeous wintery photos... but that would make me cold. A warmer option would be on a tropical island somewhere, watching the sunset in a hammock with a fruity drink in hand. Ahh... bliss!

7.  The best gift I've ever received for my birthday was my 'aquamarine' and 'diamond' ring from mum and dad. It was my 25th birthday and Christmas gift and I still love it as much as I did when I first laid eyes on it. It was my something blue on my wedding day too.

4 simple goals

Elise who owns a blog I follow is running this blog challenge to create 4 simple goals (before 2011). I thought that I'd join in too. I like that it will remind me to keep up with them before the year is through!

1.  Take more photos!
I've not been using my camera as much as I used to lately, largely because I'm becoming a fan of shooting RAW and my computer can't handle it- so I have to use Toby's. No biggie. I'm enjoying the convenience of my iphone camera so I am snapping away still, but nothing compares to my DSLR.

2.  Get more active.
I know it's been chilly and cold, but I'm looking forward to getting out into the fresh air to move my body (and hopefully a few pesky kilos). The bulbs are sprouting now so Spring must be on its way!

3.  Enjoy right now.
There's the potential for lots of change coming up for us in the next year, so it's a good reminder for me to take things just one day at a time. Keep everything in perspective and enjoy each moment as it comes.

4.  Keep creative.
In the hustle and bustle, this sometimes gets lost- but it's one thing that chills me out. I want to continue art journaling my quiet times and recording bible passages that are important to me.

Anyone else going to join in on this challenge with me?

Sharing the love

We had a little play today.
I wrote a message for Tobes on the mirror and he wrote one back. :)
Fun surprises!

P.S. My pink lipstick isn't quite the same! ;)

Dreaming...

I don't know what the weather is like where you are, but here in Melbourne is is frosty cold and very wet. Yesterday there was LOTS of rain and the school kids didn't get to leave the classroom at all. Not good for them or their teachers. :(
It's good to know that we're on the way to Spring, with the bulbs starting to pop out of the damp soil. Maybe I'll be seeing blue skies like this again soon!

The good side of Ultranet training day

I'm sure you've all heard about yesterdays fail in training teachers about the ultranet. The system crashed and we didn't get to look at it at all.
We did however get lots of work done- and enjoyed these yummy mini pies and beetroot bread rolls. Not a complete loss! :)

Verse for today

Taken by me January 2010 in Townsville

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
